Five Beauty Bargains For The Sydney Girl

You don't have to go to extreme lengths (or costs) to get a good beauty bargain. You shouldn't have to wait until the nearest Sephora opens, or beg your friends who are travelling in America to bring you back some brilliant products. You may not realise it, but Australia already has a lot of great, affordable makeup.

  1. FOUNDATION: Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation Range

New to most supermarkets, Maybelline's Fit Me! range is affordable and easy to use. Offering both a Matte + Poreless and a Dewy + Smooth foundation, Maybelline has managed to find a way to create two quite simple foundations for just about any sort of skin. Have dry skin? No worries! Use the Dewy + Smooth foundation (with SPF 18). Have oily skin? Use the Matte + Poreless foundation (sadly with no SPF rating). You can buy either of these at Priceline for $18.95

  2. MASCARA: Rimmel 100% Waterproof Mascara

Seriously good mascara that won't break the bank or stream down your face. It's one of Priceline's best-selling mascaras, and we understand why. It stays on all day, no matter whether it's raining or if you're crying during a movie. You can buy it from Priceline for $12.95

  3. EYELINER: Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liner

Okay, we may actually be doing a write-up of bargain buys that will last all day, but we see it more as a two-birds-one-stone sort of post. This eyeliner not only lasts on your eyes for the whole day (note: you may have to actually scrub it off), but the product itself lasts a long time! It seems as though there's a never-ending stream of eyeliner coming from, what looks like, a pen-like object. We're not suggesting you buy it, we're telling you to buy it. Available at Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima for $29.00

  4. EYESHADOW: Models Prefer Customised Eyeshadow Quad

We can't really go past an eyeshadow that actually tells you where to put each colour. Available in three different quad shades, the eyeshadow explains which colour should go on the base, the lid, the crease and the corner of your eyelid. If you're new to this whole eyeshadow craze, this product will be able to introduce you to the wide world of eyeshadow. Available at Priceline for $10.99

  5. LIPSTICK: Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream

Yes yes, we know. We love our long-lasting products here. But, in my opinion, why would you buy something which will only last through that first sip of coffee in the morning? Australis's Velourlips have skyrocketed, with plenty more colours being introduced (the newest colours called Los-Angel-Es, Mel-Burn, Bae-Jing, San-Fran-Disco, and Mum-Bai). They last all day (you may have to put another coat on after eight hours), and are vegan friendly (though that doesn't mean you should eat them). You can find all the colours on Australis's website, and buy any colour for $10.49
