Five Things I Love About Sydney With Boone

When Boone released Maybe I'm Too Late a couple weeks back after a viral moment of not being able to secure Fred Again tickets, we noticed on his insta stories he was shouting out his move to Sydney. So fresh eyes - what a time to ask him to join our series of Five Things I Love About Sydney. Here's his:

Camperdown Memorial Park

I come here most evenings to work on music. The park gets really busy with people chatting and mucking around as they knock-off work + I like to feel the buzz of dusk as the night begins to fall here. I’ve met a few old metal heads that regular the park and lecture me about how electronic music isn’t real music- I convinced them that it’s good by explaining to them that Brian Eno is considered electronic music (shoutout Slinky).

Lime Bikes

I originate from Adelaide so these are such a treat for me, the beam scooters in SA are so dull and slow in comparison. I can get to the heart of city in 12 mins flat from my apartment which is just madness- quicker than the train. Sometimes when finding a lime bike there is no helmet, but that is okay, your hair blows in the wind, you are free. (hot tip: get the lime pass instead of paying by the minute, you save a lot).

Lavender Bay

This was one of the first places I stayed when I arrived in Sydney so it holds a dear place in my heart. Walking around the pier is so nice and it really gives you a sense for how golden the city of Sydney is, it is glowing. For some reason I barely see any people down there at night (maybe because you need to walk down about 40 steps to get there), but that makes it a nice and peaceful way to get the quintessential harbour view.

Pleasure Club

This just opened a few weeks ago but the main draw for me is location, namely because I could probably kick a footy through its front doors from my apartment it’s that close. Inside has immaculate decor, feels vintage and the DJ keeps it funky. Thursday nights are jazz, pretty cool.

USYD Campus

I’m not even a uni student but I really love walking through this campus and pretending I am. Walking through here at night while listening to ambient music/ film scores is very inspiring- it’s like another world. The buildings are insane, it looks like Harry Potter or something, this is also where I found I have a small interest in architecture.
