Santorini Sundays is launching this summer at Southern Mediterranean restaurant, Sofia in Surry Hills.

Following its 1st birthday, glorious Southern Mediterranean restaurant Sofia on Cleveland is set to introduce an enticing lineup of Sunday sessions this Sydney summer, celebrating the vibrant tastes and sounds of the South Aegean.

Santorini Sundays, the latest addition to Sofia’s offerings, promises to evoke the laid-back bar culture synonymous with the popular Greek Island.

Launching this Sunday 3 December, guests can expect a curated selection of shared mezze plates, bottomless spritz cocktails, and a transformed lounge area into a ‘Baraki’, where guests can unwind to the tunes of traditional live music and relax with Greek board games.

The menu will be a nod to the family’s Greek heritage and owners Sophie and Con Bousgas have teamed up with renowned chef Justin North from Concept Hospitality, and Sofia head chef Nathan Treleaven to create the menu for Santorini Sundays.

“We are really excited to launch this summer taste of Greece, an evolving shared menu with a selection of our signature and new dishes inspired by our travels through the Greek Islands” exclaims Chef Justin North.

Menu highlights include: Selection of Greek dips with flatbreads; Grilled octopus with charred chorizo sausage, romesco and chilli garlic greens;  Fried manouri cheese in phyllo with Greek honey and sesame; Slow roast Mediterranean lamb shoulder with tzatziki; Harissa roasted eggplant with lemon and feta salad; and for dessert, loukoumades, a popular Greek donut covered in honey, cinnamon and crushed nuts.

The drinks menu will feature bottomless two-hour packages; Fira ($90) and Oia ($120) where guests can enjoy a selection of spritz cocktails and margaritas by Sofia’s mixologist, Jake Gamboso.

One of the highlights on the Spritz menu is the aptly named Santorini Fever, a cocktail incorporating Malfy Gin Originale, Massenez Crème de Pomme Verte, akropolis ouzo, orange blossom, butterfly pea flower and Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic.

Santorini Sundays will run every Sunday until the end of Summer, open from midday with live music from 1pm - 3pm.

About Sofia on Cleveland

The name Sofia is a dedication to the memory of owner Sophie’s paternal Grandmother and namesake, who first introduced her to the magic of extra virgin olive oil and instilled in her a love of cooking.

The food focus is inspired by Southern Mediterranean cuisines. Our chefs use Sofia’s own extra virgin olive oil imported from our olive groves in Mani, Greece. Sofia has generous-sized servings of entrees and main courses and encourages a shared table experience. Our food ethos is to serve fresh and vibrant seasonal produce in generous, home-style dishes.

Set in a beautiful heritage building with its best features exposed and showcased. A space in which family and friends come together to share good food, delicious cocktails, beautiful wines and beers—sourced both locally and from Europe.
